West U Residents to Party Along Marathon Route Sunday, Streets to Close

On Sunday, January 19, 2014, the annual Chevron Houston Marathon will be coming through West University Place. Homes in West University Place and Southside Place, located along or near the race route, may be affected by road closures and/or announcements from the live band and PA booth in front of City Hall.

The marathon course travels west along University Blvd. from Kirby, turning north on Weslayan to Bissonnet. Please be advised that traffic will be restricted when the streets close at approximately 6:30am until the streets reopen at approximately 10:30am. Please visit http://www.chevronhoustonmarathon.com/Races/Marathon/CourseInfo.cfm for an entire listing of street closures.

The West University Place Police Dept. is requesting that all vehicles parked on the roadway, along the race route, be relocated prior to the event.

Everyone is invited to line up along the race route and cheer on these remarkable athletes! If you have any questions or require further information, please contact Susan White at swhite@westutx.gov or 713-662-5367.
