CORRECTION: We mistakenly named Grace Tan as the owner of Amred Consulting, L.L.C. According to the lawsuit, she is the registered agent for Amred Consulting, L.L.C.
A West U woman is involved in a lawsuit accusing an unlicensed massage parlor of operating for the purpose of prostitution, according to a lawsuit filed this week.
Dartmouth Avenue resident Grace Tan is the registered agent for Amred Consulting L.L.C. which was cited in a lawsuit filed this week by Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan on behalf of the State of Texas.
In the lawsuit, Amred Consulting L.L.C. and Chun Hwang Walker, owner of Emerald Spa, are said to be a “common nuisance.”
“The State complains that the defendant business known as “Emerald Spa,” is operating an unlicensed massage parlor for the purpose of prostitution, the promotion of prostitution, and other criminal activity,” the suit states.
Emerald Spa is located at 2235 Richmond in Houston. The building is owned by Amred Consulting, L.L.C.
According to the county attorney’s office, Tan is listed as the registered agent for Amred Consulting, L.L.C. but they do not know if she owns the corporation.
According to the lawsuit, the Houston Police Department has made numerous prostitution arrests and written several citations for unlicensed massage services.
From Jan. 4, 2012 to March 14, 2013 HPD made 13 arrests for prostitution and wrote citations for massage violations on two separate occasions. An employee was also robbed at gunpoint, according to the lawsuit.
“Defendants have failed or refused to abate the nuisance,” the suit states. “Defendants are likely to continue to maintain the property as a common nuisance unless restrained by an injunctive order of the Court.”
If a jury or judge determines that the defendants are a nuisance, Emerald Spa will have to close for one year, Assistant County Attorney Celena Vinson said. If the business cannot be lawful, their goal is to have them shut down.
InstantNewsWestU.com attempted to contact Tan at a number listed for her, but has not received a response.
