The City of West U may have a new concessionaire for Colonial Park Pool.
Prince’s Hamburgers has submitted a proposal to serve as the city’s concessionaire at the pool.
As of this morning, the city had only received one proposal and it was from Prince’s Hamburgers. Sealed proposals had to be submitted today by 11 a.m.
City Manager Michael Ross told InstantNewsWestU.com that the bid appears to meet the city’s requirements as a qualified vendor and their proposal is currently being reviewed by staff.
Prince’s proposal may be coming to city council on Monday night for approval.
“We are very excited about a possible relationship with Prince’s and the City of West U,” Ross said, adding that if Prince’s proposal is approved by council they will be a welcome addition to the concession at Colonial Park Pool.
The Edloe St. Café has served as the city’s concessionaire at Colonial Park Pool since the 2010 season.

How about something healthy for a change? Prince’s hamburgers aren’t exactly high on the healthy barometer. Chick fil a would be a better option (obviously they need to submit a proposal and must not have done so).
Agreed, though since Chick-fil-a doesn’t operate on Sundays (don’t get me started), they would be a pretty bad choice.
Would love to have seen JerryBuilt bid since they are big into the local support model, already charge a premium for their products, and offer a number of healthy alternatives.
Healthy foods sure would be nice. Cool salads, fruit bowls, PBJ sandwiches, grilled chicken on rice or in a pita, etc., intead of grease. If the vendor ONLY offered healthy foods and charged a decent price, I bet the concession would work just as well.
Although I have never eaten at a Prince’s, their online menu lists several salads as well as grilled chicken sandwiches. I would be these are offered at the pool as well.
Why do people think Chick-fil-A is healthy?
Prince’s has grilled chicken and salads. Concession stands are tricky – limited in what they can store and prepare. Too bad Zoe’s or Skeeter’s was not interested.
Prince’s has a variety of healthy options such as Grilled Turkey Burgers, Chicken, and Salads. They also have great sides like sweet potato fries. I am sure they would be happy to listen to any comments the neighborhhod would suggest. Great choice.
Not that all the food that the WULL/WUSA baseball concession stands offer is healthy fare either, however, they do offer some interesting alternatives ( Vietnamese spring rolls with satay sauce; warm pretzels; fajitas….). It would be good to see some alternatives to the typical hamburger fare we have seen offered to date.
Prince’s is an excellent choice!!! Mmmm, cheesburger, fries and a 16 oz. sugary drink!!! Cravin’ it after swimming all afternoon! I do, however, miss the Edloe Deli food. The lack of proposals submitted should send a message to the City people Food vendors are a tight bunch and have excellent memories.
