A former West U police sergeant, already facing criminal charges and was demoted following an internal investigation for violating his “job description,” has retired.
Officer John Guerra has retired from the West U Police Department and is no longer employed by the city.
“We have accepted Mr. Guerra’s retirement,” City Manager Michael Ross said. “We wish Mr. Guerra the best in the future and appreciate his service to the city.”
Guerra was demoted last year after being arrested by West U police for hacking into his estranged wife’s computer. Guerra and his wife are reportedly in the process of getting a divorce.
He was charged with breach of computer security and the case is still pending. Guerra is scheduled to appear in court at the end of April.
Guerra has been with the West U Police Department since 1994.

Sargeant Guerra was a great asset to the West university police department for many many years. He will be missed.
I agree, it’s a shame that his vengeful ex felt she had to ruin his career. But after her six marriages, Guerra should have know better.
Most all of our good officers are gone. Is the Chief still out looking for another job, too?
