West U City Council To Discuss Tree Protection During Tonight’s Meeting

During its Monday night meeting, West U City Council will discuss tree protection in a special session held in the council chambers at 5:45 p.m.

Council will also discuss matters related to noise and solicitation during its special session.

During its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m., council may approve a contract with Loftin Equipment Company for annual maintenance of emergency backup generators.

Loftin Equipment had the lowest bid for maintenance costs, totaling $34, 475 for a five-year contract.

Council may also approve a contract with Cypress Creek Pest Control for mosquito spraying and municipal facility pest control services.

Cypress Creek Pest Control had the lowest bid, totaling $76,560 for a five-year contract.

Cypress Creek will provide pest control on a quarterly basis and mosquito spraying will be done on a weekly basis from April to the end of October.

They will provide other services, such as termite control, bee control and storm sewer inlet treatment, for an additional cost, as needed.

The public will have the opportunity to address council during its 6:30 p.m. regular meeting tonight.

    Well, what happened on the tree protection front…my guess is nothing since the urban loggers are at it again, this time on the corner of Southwestern and West Point.
