News, Things To Do

An annual event for crime prevention and neighborhood awareness is coming up next week, and West U police are calling out for residents to host block parties and register them to get visits from officers.

Scheduled for Oct. 6, National Night Out is an annual, nation-wide event that seeks to stimulate neighbors to get to know each other and work with police to fight crime.

“It is a well-known fact that neighborhoods where people know each other,
and look out for each other, have less crime,” according to a statement. West U officers will visit parties around the city to socialize with residents and answer questions.

Residents who want to host parties can contact Community Resource Officer Katie Trachier at (713) 662-5866 or ktrachier@westu.org. She will provide flyers for neighbors, and schedule an officer to attend.
