Bike Parade Begins At 10 a.m. In Front Of West U. Elementary

The City of West University Place Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual Independence Day Bike Parade and Pool Party tomorrow, July 4. Residents should line up in front of West U. Elementary, 3736 University, at 9:45 a.m. to participate in the parade. Participates are encouraged to decorate their bicycles, tricycles, wagons and strollers. The Bike Parade begins at 10 a.m. The parade route will continue west on University, turn south on Academy, and then proceed west on Byron to Colonial Park Pool.

Afterwards, the festivities will continue with free admission to Colonial Park Pool, 4130 Byron. There will be games such as greased watermelon, money dive and a potato sack race. West U. Rotary will hold their annual BBQ fundraiser, and a suggested donation of $5 will purchase a plate of beef brisket. The event wraps up around 2 p.m. and the pool will remain open until 5 p.m.
